The RVMS organization plans and runs community events for the neighborhood of Roslindale in Boston, MA. They coordinate and operate a Summer and Winter Farmer's Market, where I help run the RVMS table. There, I help answer any questions people have about the market, along with selling merchandise and conducting surveys to see how residents would like RVMS to help improve their neighborhood.
The Mystic Aquarium serves to inform guests about marine wildlife and how they can help preserve ocean life. They have a research facility and animal rescue team, along with traditional exhibits and encounters with marine life. I volunteered here as a docent, or exhibit interpreter, and would talk to guests about the animals and their importance in their ecosystems. Most animals kept at the aquarium are rescues that were unfit to return to the wild.
BBR is a group that aims to educate and empower homeowners to improve the value of their homes. They have two branches: a commercial store that sells new home improvement items, and a non-profit Reuse Center. The Reuse Center accepts donations like used furniture, excess materials from companies, etc. and resells it to the community at discounted prices because all the products were donated. I volunteered with the Reuse Center as a store hand and product processor. I would help arrange products on the floor, and also help refurbish new donations and determine their price to be resold.
